MCGTdotnet Member Email Group

MCGT's member-only Yahoo email group, MCGTdotnet, serves two important purposes. First, it is a way for the MCGT Board and office to communicate with our membership in between issues of our Outlook newsletter. Second, it enables all members to participate (either actively or as a "listener") in lively statewide discussions of gifted education issues. This email group, which has grown to include over 500 MCGT members, is one of the benefits of being a member of MCGT. Recent topics have included academic acceleration policies, credit and IB coursework, school options, links to timely articles, "new to gifted and looking for suggestions," twice-exceptional gifted children, etc.

For those who prefer to limit the amount of email sent to their inbox, read on for options to modify your participation level.

All current MCGT members are encouraged to sign for MCGTdotnet. If you want to be part of this Yahoo group, please go the group's Yahoo Home Page at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MCGTdotnet/ and click on the "Join This Group" button. This will send a message to the moderators to approve your membership. When you do this, please include enough information so that we can identify you as a member (e.g. your name). You may need to create a Yahoo ID if you don't already have one. If you have any trouble with this method, contact info@mcgt.net for help.

If you are concerned about the volume of emails sent to your in-box, there are options for group involvement that limit the number of emails sent to your inbox. These options, "Special Notices" and "Web Only", allow you to view messages on the group's Yahoo web-site and also send your own messages to the group. With "Special Notices", you will not receive the general emails sent via the Yahoo group, but will receive only those designated by the moderators as Special Notices - probably no more than 1 a month. "Web Only" will result in no emails from the group being sent to you, not even those designated as Special Notices. A third option, "Daily Digest" still sends you all the group emails, but groups them up daily and send just one long email per day. These options can be set by going to the MCGTdotnet Yahoo page given above and choosing to "Edit Membership".

We encourage all members to be part of the MCGTdotnet email group in some fashion (even if only Special Notices). This facilitates communication with our membership which allows us to serve you better.

Please contact info@mcgt.net if you want instructions for changing the Yahoo mailing options or if you have any questions about the Yahoo group.
