As should be the case with all information you find on the World Wide Web, be sure to check the information in those sites against real-world,
Davidson Institute for Talent Development
The Web site of the Davidson Institute for Talent Development (DITD) is loaded with useful information and now links to more reliable resources than any other site on gifted education.
Features of the site include links to information on DITD programs such as the Young Scholars Program,
the Davidson Fellows Program,
and the Educators Guild program for teachers of gifted students.
The Davidson Institute maintains the massive GT-Cybersource collection of online articles,
including many hard-to-find writings by experts on gifted education, along with reader comments.
Hoagies Gifted
The Hoagies Gifted site began as a mother's collection of links on gifted education and now includes content contributed by other readers.
The articles linked to range from mediocre to excellent, and on the whole the Hoagies site includes many resources that are not to be missed.
Much of the material on IQ testing on the site needs to be reconsidered in light of materials that are not available on the Web.
Center for Talent Development (CTD)
The Center for Talent Development, part of Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy, is the Midwest's regional center on gifted education. The Web site includes links describing this region's
talent search program,
the Summer Program,
and CTD's Gifted LearningLinks distance learning program for gifted students.
Center for Talented Youth (CTY)
The Center for Talented Youth site is operated by the original research and program center for gifted young people at Johns Hopkins University,
which is now also the regional center on gifted education for the northeast and the Pacific states.
The site includes links describing CTY's talent search program,
and CTY's distance education program for gifted students.
Education Program for Gifted Youth
The Education Program for Gifted Youth site is operated by Stanford University as a worldwide distance education program for gifted young people.
National Association for Gifted Children
The National Association for Gifted Children site is operated by a national association,
with most members being gifted education teachers.
Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth (MITY)
The Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth is an organization with a long history and a variety of programs, open to all interested Minnesota students in various age ranges. MITY (pronounced "mighty") offers both summer and weekend programs, which a generation of Minnesota students remember as some of their best social and academic experiences while growing up.
Intermediate District 287
The Intermediate District 287 site is operated by a consortium of school districts on the west side of the Twin Cities metropolitan area,
with programs open to all interested Minnesota students.
Gifted and Talented Education (Minnesota Department of Education)
The Gifted and Talented Education subsite is operated by the Minnesota Department of Education,
as part of its academic excellence initiative.
SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted)
The SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted) site is operated by a national association,
with most members being parents of gifted children or childless gifted adults.
Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and Talented
The Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and Talented site is operated by a statewide association,
with most members being gifted education teachers.
